The bridge is on U.S. 183 five miles south of Lampasas. It was shut down for several hours Tuesday and drivers commuting to Austin were asked to take U.S. 281 South to Highway 29 East. Several inches of rain fell in the area overnight. At around 2 a.m. two people tried to cross a flooded creek near Briggs in Burnet County and their vehicle got stranded in the water according to Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services spokesman Warren Hassinger. They were rescued by Burnet County officials. Their names were not released. STAR Flight rigged their aircraft for the rescue and lifted off from Brackenridge Hospital at 6 05 a.m. Bell County is the primary contact for the incident. Earlier this morning at 1 59 a.m. STAR Flight was requested to Burnet County near the town of Briggs where two persons were stranded by flood waters in their vehicle as it attempted to cross a flooded creek. STAR Flight lifted from Brackenridge Hospital at 2 09 a.m. however was cancelled minutes later when Burnet County advised the pair had been succesfully rescued. He has been identified as Joseph Zaborowski dob 12-03-46 of Kyle. The Travis County Medical Examiner #8217 s Office has made a preliminary ruling of accidental drowning in this incident. Shortly before 9 p.m. Friday a woman called 911 after she found the empty kayak of Zaborowski. The woman told authorities that she and Zaborowski had come to the park - also known as Five Mile Dam - to kayak and exercise. Zaborowski dropped the woman off at a boat ramp and went upstream to do some more kayaking and exercise she told authorities. Pickup trucks will be a particular target for enforcement because they roll over twice as often as passenger cars in fatal crashes. Wearing a safety belt will reduce the risk of dying in a rollover pickup truck crash by up to 80 percent. #8220 Wearing a safety belt is the cheapest form of insurance #8221 said Col. Thomas A. Davis Jr. director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. #8220 It just doesn #8217 t make sense not to buckle up. #8221 Texas law requires every person sitting in the front seat of a vehicle to wear a safety belt. Drivers can be stopped and ticketed for a safety belt violation if they or any of their passengers under the age of 17 are not buckled up or properly restrained. An 18-wheeler crashed into a retaining wall and spilled diesel fuel from its saddle tank said Austin Fire Department spokesman Rob Bredahl. Haz mat crews were called to clean up the fuel spill which was less than 100 gallons Bredahl said. The Attorney General #8217 s Texas Higher Education Fair Lending Practices Agreement offers important protections for loan recipients and implements the nation #8217 s most stringent education loan practice controls. Under the terms of the agreement the university and its employees are prohibited from soliciting or accepting gifts from student lending institutions. Employees are required to inform the university president if they receive gift offers from student loan lenders. Although the university has not entered into any revenue sharing agreements it is prohibited from doing so in the future under the compact. Texas Higher Education Fair Lending Practices Agreement #8220 Texas is home to some of the nation #8217 s finest institutions of higher learning #8221 Attorney General Abbott said. #8220 We must protect their well-deserved reputations for greatness by ensuring they are held to the highest ethical standards. The agreement also restricts university employees from receiving compensation including travel reimbursement for serving on a student lender advisory board board of directors or any other board or management council. University employees are required to seek written permission from the university president before serving in such a capacity. The University of Texas at Austin has also agreed to adhere to new rules in the event it decides to reinstate a preferred lender list. Under the agreement student loan lenders cannot pay for inclusion on any list of preferred lenders which serve to inform students of potential lenders and the types of education loans available to students. The university must disclose to borrowers that they are not required to use the lenders from the list. The university must also sort the list periodically to avoid showing preference to one lending institution over another. Lenders who violate the terms of the Texas Higher Education Fair Lending Practices Agreement must be removed from the university #8217 s lender list for at least one year. Units from the Kyle Fire Department Hays County EMS and the Hays County Sheriff #8217 s Office responded. Responding personnel were told by a female on the scene that she and a male companion had come to the park to kayak. The male had dropped the female off at the boat ramp and had gone upstream to do some more kayaking and exercising and did not return for some time. The female became worried and walked upstream to check on him. She found the empty kayak and called for assistance. The unnamed business was located at 2700 W. Pecan Street Suite #302 in the Pflugerville Area. There were 40 gambling devices 8-liners at the location and 15 people were using the machines when the search warrant was being served. They were given citations for gambling and released. The two people arrested were Chun Soo Kim and Haesook Grace Chang both of Pflugerville. They were charged with Gambling Promotion Keeping a Gambling Place Possession of a Gambling Device and Possession of Gambling Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5 000.00 for each charge for each person. Yager Lane Bridge will also have two turnarounds for north- and southbound traffic on the frontage roads. The existing center median lighting will be replaced with seven high mast lights located between the TxDOT right-of-way and frontage roads for the length of the new bridge median. Permalink Attorney General halts fraudulent expo operators who scammed exhibitors Wednesday May 16 2007 11 15 AM FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL #8217 S OFFICE DALLAS - Attorney General Greg Abbott has frozen assets belonging to two Round Rock residents who unlawfully operated business exposition companies in Texas. The defendants were also charged with fraudulently marketing their businesses in violation of the law. The district court issued a temporary restraining order requiring Farah and Adma Rabadi both officers with Delaware-based American Design amp Builders Inc. and Milliard Group Inc. to cease operating unless they obtain a certificate of authority from the state. The business had scheduled upcoming Building and Design Expos in Maryland Missouri New York and California. In addition to unlawfully marketing their expos the defendants failed to obtain a certificate of authority from the Texas Secretary of State which is required of companies that operate the expos in the state of Texas. #8220 Vendors who benefit from doing business in Texas must comply with Texas laws #8221 said Attorney General Abbott. #8220 Businesses will not tolerate vendors who disregard the law and falsely market their services. The Office of Attorney General will continue to crack down on scams that target Texas businesses. #8221 According to documents filed with the court the Rabadis routinely solicited home builders general contractors architects and other professionals who they encouraged to become exhibitors at their business expositions. Exhibitors frequently paid between $1 800 and $5 000 for booth space at the events which the defendants falsely claimed would attract at least 3 000 attendees. Additionally some exhibitors complained that their credit cards were double-charged. At a Dallas expo organized by the Rabadis last December fewer than 50 people attended during the two-day event. When disappointed exhibitors dismantled their booths early the defendants assessed a $1 000 fine assessed against them. Businesses that exposed the defendants #8217 practices complained about their misleading Web sites which solicited their attendance but advertised the event inadequately. Permalink Westbound lanes of U.S. 290 reopen following wreck By Tony Plohetski Wednesday May 16 2007 08 50 AM The westbound lanes of U.S. 290 near Manor have reopened following a tanker truck wreck this morning. Crews from the Texas Department of Transportation are working to reopen the eastbound lanes of the highway and Parmer Lane. The roadway surface was damaged by fire from the accident. Repairs should be completed between 5 and 7 p.m. officials said. The truck was going east on 290 when it was rear-ended and the tanker caught fire closing parts of the highway and Parmer according to Lt. Sean Ford with the Manor Police Department. At least one person was injured in the wreck Ford said and traffic was diverted from the area for several hours Ford said preliminary indications are that the truck which was fully engulfed in flames was carrying crude oil. Permalink Categories Police School bus involved in wreck on Riverside Drive By Melissa Mixon Tuesday May 15 2007 08 24 AM A school bus collided with a car on Riverside Drive east of Interstate 35 this morning and one child on the bus complained of pain in his arm after the collision according to Austin police. Police say a car going west on Riverside Drive crossed into the bus #8217 s lane clipping the bus. The car spun off the road and smashed through a chain-link fence before coming to rest in a field police said. The bus driver pulled over and the child a passenger on the bus and student at Sanchez Elementary School then complained of pain. Austin school district spokeswoman Roxanne Evans said the child was believed to have been taken to Brackenridge Hospital for the minor injuries. The rest of the children were taken to school Evans said. She said 44 students were on the bus at the time of the accident. Permalink Categories News Mother who tried to rescue kids is in critical condition By Melissa Mixon Tuesday May 15 2007 07 49 AM A woman remains in critical condition after she and her husband tried to save their young children from being swept away in Onion Creek at McKinney Falls State Park emergency officials said Tuesday morning. The woman #8217 s husband was pronounced dead shortly after he was pulled from the water officials say. The names of the two victims have not been released. Officials say the couple was at a family outing at the park Monday evening when two of the couple #8217 s children were swept away in the creek. The children #8217 s parents jumped into the water to save them but were swept away in the water. The children made it out of the water but the mother was pulled out by family members and bystanders according to a statement by the Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services. The father was pulled from the water after being submerged for at least 30 minutes officials say. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at South Austin Hospital according to Warren Hassinger a spokesman for Austin/Travis County EMS. The woman was taken by STAR flight to Brackenridge Hospital and remains there this morning Hassinger said. Hassinger said he did not know how long the woman was underwater. #8220 It #8217 s very sad but parents will do what they can do when it comes to their kids #8221 he said. Permalink Categories EMS Father drowns at McKinney Falls Park Monday May 14 2007 08 54 PM UPDATE A father drowned when he and his wife tried to save their children at McKinney Falls State Park about 7 p.m. Monday. The children were fine but the man and his wife had to be pulled from the water by rescuers. The father was under water in Onion Creek for at least 30 minutes officials said. His wife was revived at the scene and taken to Brackenridge Hospital. They were part of a large gathering of an extended family at the Southeast Travis County park officials said. FIRST REPORT At approximately 7 12 p.m. Emergency Communications personnel were notified of a double drowning incident at McKinney Falls Park 5805 McKinney Falls Parkway near the lower falls area. Callers reported two person in the water initailly then one pulled out of the water with CPR in progress and one victim still missing. According to ATCEMS District Comander Corey Ricketson the victims were part of a large family outing when two small children were swept away in Onion Creek The victim #8217 s parents both reported to be non-swimmers jumped in after their children. The young victims made it out of the water the adults did not. One adult female was pulled from the water by family members / bystanders CPR was initiated. The victim was breathing and had a pulse when EMS arrived on the scene. STAR Flight transported the victim to Brackenridge Hospital at 7 57 p.m. One adult male was pulled from the water after being submerged for at least thirty minutes. CPR was initiated the victim was trasnported by ground ambulance to South Austin Hospital with CPR in progress at 8 12 p.m. His condition is considered extremely critical. Both children were evaluated by paramedics and were released to extended family members. Commissioned in 1982 Assistant Chief Enriquez has held the rank of patrol officer detective sergeant lieutenant and commander. Prior to being named acting assistant chief in January 2007 he served as commander over the Northwest Area Command. He earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Austin Community College and is currently continuing his education in criminal justice at Texas State University. Assistant Chief Enriquez has been awarded a Meritorious Service Medal Honorable Conduct Citation Community Service Bar Certificate of Distinction and Safe Driving Bar. Permalink Categories Police Man held in East Riverside Drive death Saturday May 12 2007 01 42 PM 5 24 p.m. UPDATE On Saturday May 12 south central area command patrol officers responded to a person down call in the 5400 block of East Riverside Drive. When officers arrived at the scene they located a female lying in a wooded area obviously deceased. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect was located by Austin police officers a short time later. The suspect Roger Howard Andrews 56 DOB 4/14/1951 has been taken into custody and charges are pending. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information to call the Homicide tip line at 477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 472-8477. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for information. This case remains under investigation by Homicide detectives. This is the eighth murder in 2007. 1 42 p.m. Austin police are on the scene of a homicide in a wooded area near East Riverside Drive and Faro Drive in South East Austin. The victim whose name and age have not been released is believed to be a transient said Corporal Sabrina Nichols. Police are not saying whether the victim is male or female. Patrol officers responded to a report of a person down and found the victim in the wooded area at about 10 45 a.m. Nichols said. She said a police helicopter circling the area this afternoon is looking for evidence but would not confirm whether a suspect was in custody. A release from this agency on 05-10-07 reported that two students had been approached by an unknown white male driving a Gold colored most likely Ford Pick up when he briefly spoke to two students. The investigation was assisted by the Round Rock Police Department. On this date Williamson County Detectives questioned Mr. Worm regarding the offense Mr. Worm admitted his actions. Permalink Categories Police Georgetown man seriously burned in house fire Friday May 11 2007 10 19 AM From the City of Georgetown A Georgetown man suffered serious burns last night when his house at 311 E. Fifth St. caught fire. The blaze was reported to Georgetown 911 at about 10 20 p.m. Robert Kleen 62 was initially transported by Williamson County EMS to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin and was later transferred to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Kleen told officials at the scene that he awoke to a burning house and was able to exit the home on his own before emergency crews arrived. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire. The house was fully engulfed by the fire and sustained extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Personnel from all four Georgetown Fire Departments were involved in extinguishing the fire which created a thick blanket of smoke in the area according to witnesses. Sheriff Keith Korenek said Howard Leeroy Cantrell drove to Home Depot to get some plants on Wednesday at around 3 p.m. and didn #8217 t return. His family is concerned because Cantrell suffers from dementia and has a tendency to become confused Korenek said. Cantrell was last seen driving a tan 1997 Ford Ranger single cab pickup truck with the license plate number 27T WZS. He is described as being 5 #8217 11 #8221 tall and weighing 150 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing light blue work pants and a white t-shirt with writing on the front which says #8220 Smithville Chili Cook Off. #8221 Deputies say that Cantrell also has two tattoos #8212 one on his right forearm that says U.S. Air Force and features a propeller and a dagger on his left forearm. Permalink Categories News Overnight fire in Georgetown leaves a man severely injured By Joshunda Sanders Friday May 11 2007 06 52 AM Georgetown fire officials are investigating an overnight fire in the 300 block of East 5th Street that left a 62-year-old man with severe burns Thursday night. The fire started at around 10 p.m. Thursday according to city spokesman Keith Hutchinson. Firefighters from Georgetown and Round Rock Fire departments extinguished the blaze by 11 p.m. The man whose name has not been released got out of the house by the time firefighters got to the scene Hutchinson said. The house was totally destroyed after it was engulfed by fire. The man was initally taken to Brackenridge Hospital but the severity of his burns led officials to transfer him to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Permalink Categories Fire Father and daughter killed in Thursday vehicle collision By Joshunda Sanders Friday May 11 2007 06 29 AM A 35-year-old Thorndale man and his 6-year-old daughter died from their injuries Thursday evening after the car they were traveling in collided head-on with another vehicle on Texas 79 two miles east of Thrall in Williamson County according to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. Joe Edward Mojica was traveling east on Texas 79 with his daughter Jeanie Mojica when his 1993 Honda Accord moved into the westbound lane officials said. The Accord struck a 2002 GMC Sierra killing Mojica instantly at around 5 p.m. The 6-year-old girl Jeanie Mojica was taken to Brackenridge Hospital where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the GMC Garland Eugene Miller 49 of Elgin was taken to Brackenridge Hospital with minor injuries according to a DPS dispatcher. The passenger in his car Richard Perkins also had minor injuries. As of 6 30 a.m. Miller was listed in stable condition at Brackenridge. Perkins #8217 condition was not immediately known Friday morning. Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision the dispatcher said. Compared with 2005 the number of crimes per 100 000 population in Texas dropped 5.3 percent in 2006. The violent crime rate decreased 2.3 percent in 2006 from 2005. The property crime rate fell 5.7 percent in 2006. #8220 The crime rate has declined four straight years thanks to the efforts of our citizens and the law enforcement community #8221 said Col. The victim walked into the preserve shortly after noon on Monday. The search began Monday evening at approximately 7 15 p.m. As of 5 00 a.m. Tuesday searchers have aggressively combed the approximately nine square mile preserve with special emphasis on what they consider #8220 high probability areas. #8221 The victim is identified as Mithelde Vega a 66 year-old Hispanic female. Ms. Vega has shoulder length brown hair and was last seen wearing yellow or pink shorts. According to family members the victim lives near the preserve and takes walks there regularly. Permalink Categories Police Woman dies after Round Rock drug arrest Friday May 4 2007 11 18 AM From Round Rock police A Georgetown woman who is believed to have ingested a toxic amount of drugs during a late-April traffic stop died late Thursday. Dawn Nicole McLemore 22 had been on life-support at Round Rock Medical Center since April 26. McLemore was arrested after an early-morning traffic stop when officers found evidence of drugs including cocaine and alprazolam which McLemore may have ingested at some point during the traffic stop. The three occupants of McLemore #8217 s Toyota Camry are not cooperating with the investigation making it difficult for police to determine exactly what substances she may have ingested or when she ingested them. Police are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results to determine the exact cause of death. The incident remains under investigation. Permalink Categories Police APD seeks information on deceased woman Thursday May 3 2007 11 42 AM From the Austin Police Department Austin Police Department Homicide detectives are seeking information concerning a deceased person who was located on April 30 2007 of the alley of the 3400 block of Montrose Street. Detectives have determined Marjorie Charlotte Chote Ahmed 44 DOB 10-26-62 died at another unknown location. Detectives believe her body was transported from another location and left in the alley of the 3400 block of Montrose Street. The cause of death is pending toxicology results but there was no apparent trauma to Ahmed. Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen Ahmed in the area on April 30th or anyone that may have information concerning the circumstances leading to the death of Ahmed to call the Homicide tip line at 477-3588. Permalink Lightning strikes Round Rock home Thursday May 3 2007 09 59 AM From the City of Round Rock At 9 34 p.m. Wednesday May 2 2007 Round Rock Fire Department units responded to a report of a structure fire at 3971 Lord Byron Circle. The first Fire Department units arrived at 9 41 p.m. There was an initial report of light smoke coming from the second floor. Fire crews entered the home and discovered fire in the floor between the first and second stories. Fire crews were able to breach the floor space and extinguish the flames. The family of two adults and one child were home at the time. No one was injured. Damage is estimated at $30 000. Seventeen fire personnel and six fire units responded to the incident. The fire was contained in approximately 30 minutes and totally extinguished within an hour. The last Fire Department units cleared the scene at 12 23 a.m. Thursday. The cause of the fire appears to have been a lightning strike. Permalink APD arrests 11 in undercover sting Thursday May 3 2007 09 01 AM From the Austin Police Department The Austin Police Department Pawn/Centralized Theft Unit in conjunction with the Texas Department of Public Safety issued 11 arrest warrants for four suspects during an undercover investigation. The owner and employees of a business identified as the Recycling Center at 9405 Dessau Road were charged with violations of offenses in the Texas Occupation Code. All four suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday May 2nd. The owner of the recycling center Joel Moore 48 DOB 03-06-59 was charged with Theft state jail felony and Failure to Display Notice to Sellers of Regulated Material Failure to Keep Records of Purchase for the Sale of Regulated Materials and Failure to Furnish a Report to the Texas DPS for the Sale of Regulated Material Within the Seven Day requirement class B misdemeanors . Total bond for the four charges is $100 000. Abalardo Drago 53 DOB 08-24-53 was charged with Theft state jail felony and bond is $10 000. Melissa Blount 68 DOB 01-02-39 was charged with Failure to Visually Verify the Accuracy of the Identification Presented by the Seller at the Time of the Purchase of Regulated Metals and Failure to Keep the Record of Purchase for the Sale of Regulated Materials class B misdemeanors . Total bond is $3 000. Juan Roman Hernandez 38 DOB 12-12-68 was charged with Failure to Visually Verify the Accuracy of the Identification Presented by the Seller at the Time of the Purchase of Regulated Metals Failure to Visually Verify the Accuracy of the Identification Presented by the Seller at the Time of the Purchase of Regulated Metals Failure to Keep the Record of Purchase for the Sale of Regulated Materials and Failure to Keep the Records of Purchase for the Sale of Regulated Materials class B misdemeanors . Total bond is $6 000. The Undercover Operation was conducted by members of APD and DPS due to the increasing problem of theft of copper and items that contain copper such as wire and cable. This investigation targeted scrap metal dealers who purchase stolen copper or copper materials. Undercover officers offered AT amp T cable for sale to the Recycling Center and indicated to the owner and employees that the cable was stolen. APD and DPS will continue to investigate copper thefts as well as area scrap dealers for compliance with laws that require the identification of metal sellers and follow up reporting of these purchases. These investigations will make it increasingly difficult to profit from copper thefts. APD and DPS would like to thank AT amp T for their contributions to this investigation. Permalink Categories Police Investigators Smoking-related fire destroyed apartment By Joshunda Sanders Thursday May 3 2007 07 43 AM One man was displaced after a fire destroyed his apartment and damaged another in the Silver Vale Crossing Apartments in the 8900 block of North Interstate 35. The fire and water damage is estimated at $120 000. The fire which investigators say was related to someone smoking began around 4 a.m. Thursday. It threatened to spread to about 14 other apartments according to Austin Fire Department spokesman David Belknap but those apartments were spared. Power was knocked out to some apartments and one apartment had extensive water damage Belknap said. He said officials were working to get power restored to the apartments. At least one building was struck by lightning and Austin Energy crews were working to restore power to about 150 customers. A utility pole fell on a house south of Weir in Williamson County said Kim Reid a supervisor in the Williamson County Sheriff #8217 s Offiice. No injuries or major damage were reported. A tree fell on a house in downtown Georgetown but there were no injuries or damage to the house said Melissa Connell dispatcher at Georgetown Police Department. No other major damage was reported in the Central Texas area as of 7 a.m. The City of Austin is reporting that Lakewood Drive in Bull Creek Park is closed this morning due to water over the road. The National Weather service reported that about two inches of rain fell between 6 p.m. Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Almost 2 inches fell around Lake Austin 1.8 inches fell at Camp Mabry and 1.3 inches of rain fell at Austin Bergstrom International Airport according to meteorologist Bob Fogarty. He said there is a fifty percent chance of rain today after dawn. No heavy rain is expected today but severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon according to the National Weather Service. After today rain chances will pick up again on Sunday afternoon through the middle of next week. However as customers awaken additional scattered outages could be reported. The two storms that hit the Austin overnight included strong winds that downed at least a half dozen power poles. Broken tree limbs or limbs pressing against power lines and equipment caused the majority of the outages. Austin Energy has 15 repair crews in service with additional crews reporting at this hour. The flash flood watch for parts of Central Texas has been extended until 6 a.m. Thursday. Storms will move into the Austin area soon with the heavier part of the system revving up by 8 p.m. Cook said. The severe weather could last through the night. Beginning Monday May 7 2007 TxDOT will close the Windsor exit ramp after the morning commute and reopen the exit in time for the evening commute. The daytime closures will allow construction crews to build a concrete base for the new guardrail. Weather permitting the base construction should take two days. On day three the new guardrail system will be installed on the new base. Permalink Categories Weather 2 business sell alcohol to teenagers during undercover buying operation Tuesday May 1 2007 05 03 PM From the Travis County Sheriff #8217 s Office On Friday April 27 2007 the Travis County Sheriff #8217 s Office Reserve Unit along with the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission conducted an underage alcohol buy operation in Western Travis County. Seven establishments on RR 620 were visited and 72% of them complied with the law and did not sell to the undercover teenager. Two of the establishments sold to the teenager. For one of the establishments this is the second offense. The Travis County Reserve Unit is made up of trained peace officers who volunteer their time to the Travis County Sheriff #8217 s Office. The seven reserve deputies volunteered over 30 hours for this operation alone. That equates to several thousand dollars in savings to the Travis County taxpayer. The Reserve Unit collectively volunteers thousands of hours to the Sheriff #8217 s Office for Sex Offender Compliance Checks Underage Alcohol Buy Operations fill in for patrol deputies on vacation assist at the training academy and other special events and activities. Permalink Cap Metro bus crashes 2 seriously injured By Joshunda Sanders Tuesday May 1 2007 10 26 AM Two people were seriously injured when a Capital Metro bus collided with a sport-utility vehicle and crashed through a brick wall on Medical Parkway near 39th Street just after 8 a.m. today. EMS officials said six people were taken to hospitals four with minor injuries. One of the seriously injured patients was the bus driver. The other seriously injured patient was a passenger on the bus. Police said the bus collided with the gray SUV and then crashed through the wall at a building that houses the Communication Workers of America offices at 3901 Medical Parkway before coming to a rest against the building. Officials said the bus driver Theresa Williams a 28-year Cap Metro veteran was pinned in her seat for a while because the bus was up against the building trapping her leg. Police say the driver of the SUV is at fault in the collision because it failed to yield the right-of-way from a side street to the bus. The SUV driver #8217 s name has not been released by police. Williams won #8217 t be cited police said. Nine other people including the driver of the SUV were treated at the scene. No one inside the building was injured EMS said.
